IEP/504 Advocacy
more than capable when we join together
You want what's best for your child. You're just not sure how to navigate the IEP process to get there.
Maybe you're confused by the evaluations. Maybe the school is proposing changes you don't understand. Maybe you've been nodding along in meetings while thinking, "I have no idea what any of this means."
You're not alone. And you don't have to figure this out by yourself.
Education is the prerequisite to empowerment at the IEP table
I believe parents should feel confident, informed, and collaborative when advocating for their child. My approach is rooted in partnership - with you AND with your child's school team
Together, we can be fierce advocates while building productive relationships with educators who genuinely want to help your child succeed.
I support families who:
• Want to understand their rights without needing to become legal experts
• Believe in working collaboratively with school teams
• Are committed to solutions, not battles
• Need someone in their corner who speaks "IEP language"
I'm not the right fit for families who:
• Are looking to fight or create adversarial relationships with schools
• Want someone to take over all communication with the school (you remain the primary advocate)
• Need legal representation for due process (I'm not an attorney, but I can help direct you to those services when needed)

What Working Together Looks Like
Before your IEP meeting (2-3 weeks out):
Expect intensive support - daily communication, document reviews, multiple prep calls. This is when we do the deep work together.
During your IEP meeting:
I attend as a contributing member of the committee, asking clarifying questions, ensuring compliance with special education law, and advocating for your child's needs.
After your IEP meeting:
We'll debrief, review what was decided, and create a plan for monitoring your child's progress. Email support continues for case-related questions.
Your role as the parent:
You remain your child's primary advocate. You'll continue direct communication with the school for day-to-day matters, which keeps accountability clear and responses faster. I'm here for the advocacy strategy, legal knowledge, and meeting support.
Why Parents Choose Cruise Capabilities
Here's what sets my approach apart:
Collaborative, not combative: I believe the best outcomes happen when parents and educators work as a team. I help you advocate boldly while building bridges, not burning them.
Transparent and honest: You'll always know exactly how much time I've spent on your case. No surprise bills, no inflated hours.
Experienced educator: I've worked in special education and understand how schools operate. I speak the language of IEPs, evaluations, and accommodations fluently.
Project-based clarity: You know exactly what you're getting and what it costs. No ongoing fees unless you choose monthly support.
-
Not every family does. If you feel confident navigating the IEP process on your own, that's wonderful. But if you're feeling confused, overwhelmed, or like you're not being heard - advocacy support can make a significant difference in outcomes.
-
I'm a non-attorney advocate, which means I work within the collaborative IEP committee framework. If your situation requires legal action (like due process or formal complaints), I'll help you find an educational attorney. Most families never need that level of support.
-
Book your free consultation and we'll typically meet within 5-7 days. If your IEP meeting is sooner, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate urgent timelines.
-
No problem. Additional time is billed at hourly rates and invoiced separately. You'll always know your time balance before we exceed the package hours.
-
I'm most familiar with Texas special education procedures, but federal special education law (IDEA) applies everywhere. Contact me and we'll discuss whether I can support your situation. I have worked for families in Kentucky, New Jersey and Arizona as well.
Ready to Feel Confident at the IEP Table?
You don't need to become a special education expert overnight. You just need the right support to understand your options and advocate effectively for your child.
Next step: Book your free 30-minute consultation. We'll talk about your child's situation, answer your questions, and determine if working together makes sense.
